As my exchange approaches the trigger level can anyone tell me an average
time for service following the trigger level being reached? Of course I
appreciate that this will depend on various factors but I am just trying to
a feel for the best and worst case scenarios. TIA

In the last round of RFS dates (ready for service) exchanges announced
as being put forward for upgrade, had an estimate of around 3 months
plus before the upgrade would take place. Some exchanges have a
little more (I've seen RFS dates of some 6 & 7 months - but these are
v.rare, and were a long time ago).

As replied to thread "trigger level":

For the purposes of an example:

Bridgnorth, Shropshire, hits trigger mid Feb 2003, I was up and running by
20th May 2003.

Check out the news items on ADSLGuide.org.uk, as they regularly post the
Ready For Service dates of newly triggered exchanges. Add on 5-7 days after
the RFS date to get an idea.

James

P.S If you hit the trigger in the next few days, you probably won't see
service before Christmas.
Check out the last batch of Ready For Service dates:
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/newsarchive.asp?item=1322
These are exchanges that have hit their trigger level recently and have been
verified by BT.

This will tell you exactly your activation date - just click on the region
you are in.

Thanks for the replies. The other thread has only just appeared. Hopefully
my new ISP will have a more efficient news server.

If you don't need binary newsgroups, try news.individual.net
(http://www.individual.net). It's free to use, but requires that you
register in advance. They then give you a username and password.

Very efficient.
