BT 21CN rollout status
Target date: Q3 2009

Just read the above at
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/ex...hp?ecode=NDSES

Their list of acronyms doesn't help. Any ideas what this means?

Cheers..

Les

of its next-generation IP-based network, known as 21st Century Network, or
21CN, which is currently undergoing trials in Cardiff, Wales."

Given that it is 2009, is it even worth wondering? I have little doubt
that there will be plenty of information released over the months and
years leading up to the launch of different services, after they've
fixed various bugs, and had marketing meetings to see what they would
like to charge extra for, and so forth... Looks like a long time to be
waiting, and I'll lose no sleep in the meantime over what may be planned
(perhaps even announced) and then fails to deliver, so is withdrawn :-)

I'm pleased to see you add your comment *after* the quoted text, but was it
really too much effort to cut the quantity you quoted to the bare minimum?

It looks rather lazy when several lines of signature are quoted - and in
truth also looks to be the efforts of a newbie newsgroup user: MS OE :-(

So you've never seen a thread "drift" ? Did you want me to put
some different subject line to reflect the topic change? No,
there's really no need to answer those - we've both got lots
more interesting things to do, haven't we...

>Sorry mr perfect !

I don't claim to be "perfect" and always have plenty to learn.

>will aspire to your high standards

The comments made were intended to be constructive, and in truth,
wiping out "noise" (excess quoted text) means everyone can get to
the "point" far faster, so if all followed that approach, we'd all
spend less time "wading" through text which has been read before,
again, and again, and ...

Thanks Adam ) Most kind..

Indeed... but so did you! And I got some thoughts from some real, live
people by posting in here. I not only know what it is, but have a feel for
the thoughts of others on the rollout. And I wouldn't mind betting the
thread does not stop here... Better to talk to people surely than just
absorb sterile facts.

I asked because I may be moving to the area covered by that exchange.
Currently no broadband at all, a 2Meg service soon though. It is a major
factor for me.

21CN is the new BT system where everything at the exchange for consumers
(conventional phone, broadband, alarms?) migrates to IP.

So - when a "hit" gets your broadband at least you wont clog the call centre
complaining - cos the phones wont work either.....

Not true.
BT aren't stupid enough to put the telephony on the Internet with the
broadband.
There are only a few faults that would stop the telephony and the broadband
(like the DSLAM blowing up).
