Transferring files from SuSE to RedHat

I'm unable to execute some files that were created on SuSE in the
RedHat distribution. I created a tar gzipped file and ftp'd it over to
my Novell network then over to the RedHat server. I'm going to attempt
using an NFS shared directory to just copy it. But I was just wondering
if this is some sort of conflict.

thanks.

What files? What does 'file filename' output from some xterm?

Would you mind showing us the exact error message you get,
preferable via cut&paste?

[dorantes@RedHatPMS dorantes]$ chain PHONINDX.CHN cdb=6
Unable to open: access denied: PHONINDX.CHN
CHAIN compilation aborted
[dorantes@RedHatPMS dorantes]$

chain is a utitlity with DB/C, which is the database we use, I have the
utitlites in a directory called /dbc/bin, which has been exported to my
filepath. so the chain command is found, then I have all of my other
files in sub-dir's, for example, PHONINDX.CHN is in a directory called
/dbc/chn, this filepath is in a configuration file which is also
exported.

I have also changed all rights and permission to be rwx for every
directory in my filepath and it still says access denied. What I ended
up doing was mount an nfs directory in RedHat, this allowed me to cp
all of the files and sub-directores, I used the -p option to preserve
all rights and perm's.

Here's what my env looks like.
DBCDX6.CFG is what sets my utility filepath.
DBC_CFG=/dbc/cfg/DBCDX6.CFG
TODAY=031505
MAIL=/var/spool/mail/dorantes
PATH=/dbc/bin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/dorantes/bin
any thoughts ???

Now that doesn't look that bad, could you please run:

strace chain PHONINDX.CHN cdb=6

And show use the relevant lines, a few before and after things
break. Perhaps it does tell you something.

Not quite sure was this has to do with networking, is
PHONINDX.CHN or/and chain on a nfs mount?

#bofh excuse 231: We had to turn off that service to comply
with the CDA Bill.

The file name is all caps and 8.3. Is it on a DOS or Windows partition?
