Transfer quota

Hello,

I would like to enforce some (monthly) quota limitation on an internal
network for traffic directed to the internet. A solution should either
use iptables or traffic conditioning by iproute. Traffic information
should be stored persistently, so rebooting the router does not affect
accounting. The aim is to mark out-profile packets in order to shape
traffic using a tc filter

One possible way I found is the QUOTA match from netfilter.org but I
doubt it stores the remaining traffic-size in any way when doing
iptables-save

Would appreciate any hints,

I have no answer but I like the question, please post a followup
if you ever solve the problem!
