Environment:
Windows NT 4.0 Domain with PDC & BDC's which run DHCP, WINS, DNS. This
Domain has two-way trusts with several other Domains and one-way trusts with
a couple more. One of its two-way trusts is with a Windows 2003 Active
Directory Domain.
Clients Environment:
We have old legacy Windows from Windows 95 Windows NT workstations. We also
have the newer OS's like Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP pro SP1 & SP2.
Problem:
We at time have vendor's connect their laptops or other devices get brought
in without anyones knowledge and get connected to our network. These vendors
do not keep up with security patches or Anti-Virus updates which then infect
our environment.
Question:
Is there free utility or a Windows support pack utility or even a script
that can be run on a daily basis that could extract the network connectivity
for time the utility ran? Information I would want to see in the output would
be as follows:
- computer name
- mac address
- IP address
- What Domain the user loged into
- The user name that logged in
- Date & time
- Version of OS
- If the device had a DHCP or static IP address
I would then compare any difference in daily output.
Thanks for any help
