a) If the machine is a server, install Network Monitor
included free since NT 4 server.
b) Or use Network Monitor from the SMS packages or
one of the free such programs, like WinDump or
Ethereal on the same or a another box in the same
broadcast domain (and same leg of any switch.)
c) Use Snort or another IDS (intrusion dection system)
on the machine or another....[ditto above]
CAVEAT: In some companies it is a serious (even
TERMINATION) offence to use a sniffer or network
monitor without explicit permission.
If you aren't "da man" (or "da gull") then be smart about
this.
