Recently joined Sky BB. First week of the service was terrible. Router
would disconnect every few minutes with an error code of 300 (router loses
it's address on the internet).

Rang Sky Tier 3 support (the big guns) who did several tests on the line who
reduced the speed to gain stability. That seemed to work for a day, then it
started playing up again. My noise margin was very unstable, going from
high 7's to as low as 0.9!

After lots of research I checked my wiring for my extension and cut all
wires apart from 2 and 5. This immediately increased the noise margin from
8 ish to the high 14's. Since doing this it has been stable!

So, essentially, you would have the same problem on any dslmax style
service. I cant recommend sky enough, their broadband service so far is
excellent, fast, reliable and, the only time i needed to contact them (to
upgrade from the free service to the unlimited service) it took them less
then a minute to upgrade my line.

Yes, it appears the problems I was having were nothing to 2 with Sky. It
was the excess noise on my extension.
