Hi all

I've been reading this group for a while and have ordered BT Broadband
1Mb.

Today I read that BT Broadband have now 3 services which include no
limit on the amount you download (was previously 30Gb per month), see

http://www.bt.com/btbroadband/ns_pre...K&obsOID=80314

From the above link it seems they have changed their download
restriction if you go for the 1Mb service, if available, of course

Interested in your comments.

Best regards

Steven Muster

Well, there's your problem right there. You shouldn't have chosen BT.

Good luck.

Why on earth did you choose BT?
Someone with enough savvy to use usenet should really know better....

I've chosen BT. Well, actually it's not so much chose, and stuck with!!
We've had BT dial-up for ages (since they started doing 0800 access in the
evenings).
We've now ordered ADSL (comes on 25.3), but we've had to stay with BT
despite the service going downhill. The E-mail servers go down all the time,
we get cut off with no reason (and BT say we don't!!). But we need the
e-mail addresses we've got with BT now, so can't change!!

I've kept my btopenworld email account since 1997/8 when I was with them on
pay as you go dial up.....I've been with about 4 providors since, and the
email account is still working to this day.....

Umm, you can keep your BT email address whichever provider you choose.
All you have to do is make a note in your diary to dial up BT for a few
seconds once a month, and that's it.

I have an old dialup Openworld account that I always forget to check
regularly, but it's still there. I check it from my Eclipse.net.uk
account every week or so.

If worst comes to worst you can get someone on a BTO account to set up
port forwarding to the BT mail server (w/firewall, of course).

Or bite the bullet, register your own domain (£6 for 2 years), and use
the email forwarding on that to forward your email to whatever ISP
account you wish, so you are never at the mercy of a crap ISP again...
It just means taking the hit and emailing everyone you know in a single
mail shot...

Nonsense. You can carry on using the addresses from say PlusNet, just change
the SMTP server to PlusNet's,
that's it ! You may have to log on to BT every now and then (six months ?)
to keep your account open.

Martin
