Too many TCPIP adapters

I'm trying to install an alta vista tunnel client and it
keeps telling me I've used up the 4 (max) things that can
be bound to TCPIP. However, when I check my network
setting I'm only using 2 adapters(dial-up networking and
my linkys modem) and 1 TCPIP protocol (for the linksys).
Does anybody know why it thinks I'm using all 4?

Are there any network adapters that have been installed but aren't
currently connected, such as PC cards in a laptop or USB adapters?
