Anyone else noticed Tiscali is having trouble again - if your IP starts with
212. then you are on the "overflow" system which restricts speed. Some of
the servers have gone down again tonight and Tiscali haven't informed
customers. The same happened about 3 weeks ago.
I think it could be that they will not pay for extra bandwidth too.

I would suggest Tiscali customers complain directly via www.ispa.org.uk

WOW, 187Kbps but paying for up to 8Mbps - which it usually is.

Another fault identified weeks ago for the incompetent engineers, but they
don't know what to do or how to fix it. AGAIN!

What a terrible company to deal with. The next ISP I go with will need to
have a call centre based in the UK with English speaking people.

Such as PlusNet?

Seriously, it's nice to see another ISP getting it in the neck for once!

Sticking my neck above the parapet (I've got my flameproof suit on!), I can
report from personal experience that Plusnet's service has improved greatly
since BT bought them out and has now started putting some investment into
the company. And yes, their customer service desk is still based in
Sheffield.
I had occasion to call them a few weeks back and got straight through
without any delays (mid-evening).
They still have drawbacks though - throttling/capping, etc. but they're
reasonably cheap - and they do own up to problems when they occur, unlike
the likes of Tiscali.

George

What do you expect - the bean counters would rather inflate
their saleries and pensions - blow the rest on advertising -
and the customers, being captive, come last in the pecking
order, no way are Tiscali going to fund extra bandwidth, or
improved customer service, it costs money.
