line fault - high resistance. The voice call puts current on the line
that helps overcome the bad connection / near break in the cable.
Report it to the ISP (oh dear, never mind) to get BT to look at it. If
there are voice symptoms (crackle, faint etc) call it in as a vocie
fault on 151 or via ww.bt.com
try it in the test socket at the back of the master
