Thank you for your reply, and also everyone else that have offered
information.
The 'friend' is in his 80's, and would struggle with this newsgroup. His
knowledge of computing being very limited. He calls me round about every
2 months to sort out his latest problems, most of which tend to be
altered/incorrect settings. He is rather short sighted and I suspect
most - if not all - of his problems are 'operator error'.
He is using a Sagem ADSL modem, and the WinXP built in firewall. I do
not know whether a HOSTS list is being used.
