Tiscali UK is no more. In an unsurprising move, TalkTalk have today
rebranded Tiscali to TalkTalk. TalkTalk picked up Tiscali UK for a bargain
price of £236 million last year after their original offer of £550m was
rejected by Tiscali just before the financial problems beset the country.
The move made the largest residential broadband provider in the UK under the
Carphone Warehouse umbrella which also owns the TalkTalk, AOL and Opal
brands.

They also want to increase my line rental by 33.3% and have offered instant
termination.
so I am looking for an alternative supplier.

I am connected to a Market 3 exchange via a 63db loss line , and probably
download about 10GB /month.

I am considering Plusnet and Newnet as replacement suppliers, which sadly
will cost me more.
Comments welcome!

Michael,
You can get Plusnet Value package ( 10GB/month download limit,
but downloads between midnight & 8AM do not count ), for £6/month on
a Market 3 exchange.
Currently there is a an offer of the first 3 months for free if you are
an ex-Tiscali customer being referred by a Plusnet member. Offer is
open
until the end of this month.

A shocking achievement for what is, a very poor internet provider.

I wonder if Newnet would match that!

Every single one of those brands is on my 'never ever buy any of these'
brands.

But then, I never owned a pair of trainers or a hoodie, either. And my
jeans are just long enough to reach my ankles and actually fit me.

And hopefully fit around your waist rather than below your buttocks?
;-)

Unfortunately there are no LLU operators at my local exchange.

Being in a country area (less than 30 miles from London) not only are the
speeds slow because of my long telephone line, but I also have to pay more.
IMHO LLU operators should be made to offer their services at the same price
at all exchanges (perhaps using shared equipment at smaller exchanges.)

I have since found that BT have an offer of £9.99/m 18 month contract 10GB
for Tiscali/Pipex customers which works out the same as Plusnet at 11.99
with the first 3 months free. I am now waiting for my MAC code to arrive!
