Tiscali Billing

Hi

I'm very angry with Tiscali, so I could rant, but I'll try to keep
this short.

I cancelled with Tiscali in March, since I was moving overseas. Over
the last 3 months I've been trying to get a pro-rata refund from them
for March. I've had numerous emails back and forth, and each person
tells me something different. In the end (after a lot of waiting and
frustration), they're saying they can't refund to my bank account, and
they won't post a cheque to a non-UK address.

Is there anyone I can complain to? Any ombudsman or something who can
sort it out? It's a minimal amount of money, but dammit, it's my
money and not theirs!

Thanks

Hi! You need to first register a complaint with www.ispa.org.uk and they
will get back to you. They will contact Tiscali and get someone that speaks
English to phone you back and attempt to resolve the problem. If they do
not, you need to report them again and that's when the ISP risks being
fined.
Thousands of annoyed customers used their services a few months ago after
Tiscali constantly lied about their service running 100% when it wasn't -
mainly down to employing incompetent engineering staff. That small number
of people did more damage than anything else to Tiscali's share prices and
image. They had a continual repeat history of not being able to identify
and resolve problems - also never keeping the support desk notified or the
service status indicator updated.

Not by ISPA they don't. ISPA are the ISPs _own_ trade body, funded by
ISPs and they behave accordingly. ie they are a waste of time.

If you were in the UK I'd suggest opening a small claims court case -
that usually does the trick.

Alternatively contact www.cisas.org.uk and tell them you are
deadlocked (complaint ongoing for more than 12 weeks). That WILL do
the trick as Tiscali will have to pay the costs of the CISAS
investigation - they have to by law.

Forget ISPA though - they only act in their members interests.
