Three SMTP issues, does anyone know of another smtp server?

I am really sick of the SMTP issues on three (3) as I find that on many
occasions I cannot send my email. Faced with a phone that wont do secure
SSL smtp, I am faced with a problem. Do I dump three, and move to a
different provider, of does anyone know of another smtp server I could use
for sending email. I am about to jump ship from three due to these issues
which three seem to not give a toss about.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks

You don't actually need SSL...how about using port 587 and authentication?

That's what I use.

But which smtp server do you use? Can you recommend?

I cannot believe that something so simple as email could be so difficult to
get going on a mobile phone.

And just to cause problems, three cannot offer a working smtp server for its
customers.

My own. But that's not a vital requirement.

Well I cant use a demon smtp server, or a talktalk one. Because they dont
allow you to send via another service provider.
I am trying to get this working on a Skype phone S2. It wont let me set up
SSL, nor does it offer authentication (as far as I can see)

Thanks

Typical short-sightedness. Depending on the domain, messages may be
rejected immediately. DKIM, SPF and SID will all result in a bounce
from any other server but those authorised by the domain owner,
assuming the destination domain has policies in force.

However, as Bob says, using MSA (which also supports TLS if you're on
an untrusted network) on port 587 is a way around this. Most clueful
domain owners with DKIM/SPF published and users on the WAN will have
the MSA port open, along with authentication. Thunderbird definitely
supports this setup on the client end.

Do they just redirect port 25?

My e-mail provider (fastmail.fm) allows the use of a couple of different
ports for the instances where port 25 is redirected by an isp. The
option of SMTP is not included in the free accounts, though the standard
account isn't expensive.

Port: 587 (preferred) or 25 or 26 including STARTTLS support (or SSL
SMTP port 465)

You are saying a company like Plusnet - owned by BT - does not currently
offer TLS on it's SMTP servers? You are shitting me man?

Has anyone tried this for Three? I've found both ports 25 and 26 blocked,
which is rather annoying since my ISP provides 26 as a route around SMTP
blocks. I'm not sure about 587 as they have some other daemon on that port.
