Hi,

A few months ago I configured RRAS on a win2k server via some tutorial. I
recall the tutorial stepping me through creating a certificate for the VPN.
I can't find it anywhere.

One user can still connect, but I am unable to now.

Event ID 20192 is found: A certificate could not be found. Connections that
use the L2TP protocol over IPSec require the installation of a machine
certificate, also known as a computer certificate. No L2TP calls will be
accepted.

Any ideas of where to start on this? I've dug around routing and remote
access and I don't see anything about a certificate or how to specify one.

Thanks,

Alan

Try this one for Windows Server 2003. It is about the same process:

http://technet2.microsoft.com/window...f72791033.mspx

To scale out cert enrollment for your users, see this full PKI Web-based
enrollment guide here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...webenroll.mspx.

That PKI guide doesn't cover machine cert enrollment specifically, but note
the page on customizing cert enrollment pages that you can use to make it
easy for users to get a machine cert for L2TP.

If you have ISA 2004 (on Server 2003), there is a full VPN Deployment Kit
here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa...ogies/vpn.mspx
