all 50 of them at best ? out of >100,000 customers.

I note that the Financial Services Authority have also "done a
Plusnet" :-

"I have reached the view that the time of our staff should no longer
be spent in dealing with your many and various queries" David Kenmir,
FSA, writing to Evan Owen of the IFA Defence Fund. Reported in Sunday
Telegraph, 4/9/05. Own had "bombarded" the watchdog with 60 emails
over four months.

Idiot

Perhaps you should actually read the article. You will find that at no
stage do Plusnet claim there are "No angry customers".

" 2 out of 125,00 customers are unhappy" just the 2 referred to in the
article ( by implication)

You really aren't at all good at this reading lark, are you?

Your "point" appears to have been the exact opposite of mine.

But made because you read it as Plusnet having said something they
didn't.

But also by implication, regarding the specific issue, of customers
not being told about cheaper offerings.

They do not say they have no angry customers.

Though to be fair, once others who have been paying 39.99 (sorry, I have
to include my own view "more fool them", for not checking, given they had
the knowledge to switch to the more costly accounts in the first place!),
find out that they have been paying over the odds, will add to the two and
(thankfully not having followed the numerous exchanges which Phil T recently
summarised) at least this does make the issue quite clear...

So Mr A says "we won't ring everyone about a lower price" - he's clearly just
asking for trouble, as he has the means at his disposal to have been "open
and honest" using a simple e-mail to those affected. PN has shied away
from sending a simple e-mail for several months, though they were happy to
explain their plans to provide each and every customer with as high a speed
as the line could handle, and implied (however premature) that 4000 or 8000
kbps was likely "soon". Not sure how many people have suggested they get
on and do it, and made it clear enough in discussions such as here in utb,
that anyone paying more should switch... but clearly those heavy download,
early adopters, will have been switched off to them paying more for nowt,
or simply leeching for all their worth, and oblivious of the situation!

Knowing that marketing is often injected with a lot of hype, one should have
some suspicions, but anyone at PN HQ knowing that it was going to be months
before the end of the Max DSL trials, should be having sleepless nights for
not doing the "right thing" in making sure a customer was not going to feel
"ripped off" after paying a stupidly high monthly fee for the "promise" of
a free upgrade (and presumably, paying the same fee in future, even if the
regular advertised costs for new customers is say 5 quid more per month...

Going to be years before they have "broken even" if there is some small
difference from their rate and the "new customers" rates, isn't it ? PGM.

Indeed.

I am certainly not suggesting that PN have acted for the best here.

I don't think they are losing sleep. I seem to remember them saying
that paying the extra money every month entitles the customer to be
first in the queue when maxdsl is a reality.

So they were actively suggesting people pay over the odds for their
connection.

I can't remember if I read this in an email or in an announcement on
usenet or in their status page, but they definitely said it.

Of course, knowing how slow PlusNet are at implementing anything
infrastructural, I advised anyone listening to go for the cheaper
option, and wait and see. IMO they should have done the same, or at
least warn people it could be a very long wait.
