3 computers in the house with 1000 adapters, want to wait to upgrade the
router (so I do not need a switch and router).

Any timeframes?

Why not use your current router with a new switch?

After being targeted with gigabytes of trash by the "SWEN" worm, I have
concluded we must conceal our e-mail address. Our true address is the
mirror image of what you see before the "@" symbol. It's a shame such
steps are necessary. ...Charlie

Added latency & time for a newer switch anyways...

I seriously doubt the latency of one hop from a gigabit switch
to your router will materially affect your Internet experience,
which surely must involve _much_ greater latency after it leaves
your house.

And I don't understand the second part of what you wrote --
I suggested a new switch.
