Is there an FAQ somewhere on how to setup a small network under 2k (cos I'm totally baffled !)

I've 3 systems all running through a hub (sharing the adsl connection)
they were all running fine under 98se. I had to upgrade one to 2k and
was told it would be best to up them all (to make life easier, ho, ho,
ho...)

Now I upgraded them all everything working apart from the network. All
the systems can still share the adsl, but they can't see each other on
the network ?

can someone please point me towards an FAQ or something...

Very many thanks,

Steve,

Seems it could be a firewall problem. Can you ping the other machines from
each other. IF not, you may have to allow them to pass through your
firewall. I had to do that with Zone Alarm. Works ok now.

When you say they can't see each other - do you mean they can't ping each
other? Or do you mean they can't see each other in "My Network Places"? If
it's the latter, then have you got "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
Networks" in your Local Area Connection Properties?

Dan.

Sorry, this was posted to the wrong thread (it was a bad day, ok)

Thanks for the info, I've made some headway. System one can see system
two in My Network, but can't connect to it. System two can't see
anything.
Clicking on the 'computers near me' icon just causes a 10 second
pause and then a message 'Home is not assessable' 'The list of servers
for this work group is not currently available' (home is the work group
name there all on).
I've tried the ipconfig /all route but all I get is a box on the
screen of about a tenth of a second !!
System one can ping two and get a list of folders, but that's
as far as we can get !!
Again, everything was working fine under w98se, it's only under
2k the problems have started.
