There are currently no logon servers available to logon your request

Hello,

I have 2 Domains and one DC for each domain. DC1 is a 2k server and DC2
is a 2K3 server. There is a trust relationship set up between them. The
problem is with 2 clients on Domain1 (DC1's), one of which is a 2k3
server and another an XP pro machine.

Everytime they try to access/map a network drive on Domain2 they get
the following error message:
"There are currently no logon servers available to logon your request"

If they try to browse the Domain2 through 'Microsoft Windows Network'
they get the following error message: "Domain2 is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have access
permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently
available"

2k3 server uses the DC1's Administrator account to access/map the
network resource on Domain2. If I use DC2's Administrator account to
access/map network resource on Domain2 it starts working, which leads
me believe that this could be a permission related issue?

Also as additional information, both DC1 and DC2 have DNS, WINS and
DHCP services running. I've deleted the root node "." in DNS and made
sure all the clients point the DC1/DC2 for DNS services. These types of
network errors happened in ALL XP machines before I made the above DNS
changes. Now all (except the ones in discussion) seem to work fine. It
also improved the logging on to domain process, which is really fast
now.

Any help is appreciated.

sounds like name resolution issue. quoted http://www.chicagotech.net/dnstroubleshooting.htm

Make sure primary DNS and 2nd DNS servers point to each other as primary and themselves as secondary.

If they are in the different subnets, also check the WINS settings.

Hi,

I noticed that after making the changes, I cannot see Domain2 from
Domain1 under 'Microsoft Windows Network' and vice versa. Sounds like
a WINS issue? Currently I have 2 WINS servers running, one on each DC.
Each client has their domain's WINS set as primary, and other domain's
WINS as secondary. Both domains are in the same subnet. Any
suggestions?
