Hi
My nephew has a Tesco BB account, recently installed with the supplied USB
modem.
His mum works for Tesco and they get a discount before anyone asks why.

Works fine.

He wants to share the Internet connection with his laptop, his sisters
laptop and his parents desktop.

He has just bought a Belklin ADSL wireless router. 7633 if I recall
correctly.

Can't seem to get an internet connection thru the Belklin Router, always
reports Not connected.
Tried to ring Tesco - they gave me some settings but imediately ended the
call when I mentioned the word router, saying they do not support routers.

The lights on the front of the modem seem normal.

Does anyone know if the Tesco service checks the MAC address of the modem?

Regards

David

No. One of my relatives has a router (Netgear DG834G) with tesco BB and
works fine. Usually, non-connection is a configuration error.
Make sure the routers configuration is set as follows:

VPI = 0
VCI = 38
Username = (E-Mail Removed)
Password = password
Dialing Type = PPPoA
Authentication = CHAP

similar over the phone.
I will try modified settings.

Other then AOL, it is always PPOA UK, PPOE does work for some connection
types, but you dont need to worry about that.

Even AOL use PPPoA for routers. AOL actually support certain routers -
do any other ISPs provide support on routers at all?

certainly on routers they sell or supply with the service.
BT Yahoo and the more expensive of the BT Broadband services for
example ships the Voyager 205 router as standard.

Tiscali - dialup speeds at Broadband prices, see

AOL - the unlimited ISP of choice for heavy downloaders.
