Terminal Services connections - encryption

I beleive that Terminal Services connections using
mstsc.exe (RDP version 5.1 or 5.2) are encrypted by default
and are transmitted using the SSL protocol.

I'm looking for some documentation of this and details of
the encryption. The point being I've developed a system to
automate RDP connections to my clients and I'd like to be
sure of the security implications before rolling it out.
