I'm away over Christmas (about 3 weeks) at a temporary address with a BT
line, but no broadband. Does anyone know of a provider that does short
term connections at reasonable cost?

Not necessarily, it might be required for business.

define "reasonable".

£80 do it ? plenty of monthly contract options where you pay the
activation fee. Plusnet, Zen, F2S

If you have a connection elsewhere you might be able to "move house"
twice in rapid succession.

Phil

£80 is not a problem.

I just wondered whether someone knew of a provider out there with nil
activation fee and a monthly contract. Sure, I'll check out adslguide
in due course, but was hoping to save some legwork :-)

I wasn't aware that having a broadband connection at property A would
provide any benefit in moving to property B, irrespective of any
timescale / duration?

don't be daft, they would pay £40 to BT and incur their own setup
costs in return for a single month's income of £25 ?

any ISP with no setup fees, free modem etc charges you about £70 if
you leave within 12 months.

So paying a setup fee and a month or perhaps 2 (monthly may involve 30
days notice) is the most realistic scenario.

Zen and probably others will do "home mover" deals where they allow
you to move for a reduced or no cost in order to keep your business.

Gave an error only, no destination URL shown. Probably as well!

Knowing the generally insulting nature of MinusNet (must be fun as his ISP
if they ever have any downtime!) such a poster is ideal only for killfiles
