Telnet from Windows XP into RH Linux through VPN

I have difficulties to telnet my new RH Linux (ES 2.1) box from home.
My home PC uses cable to connect to internet, and uses Nortel VPN to
connect to my company's network. After I make VPN connection to my
company's network, I can ping the Linux box's IP but can not telnet
into my Linux box.

I read some documents/books on this and may need to set up CIPE in the
Linux server. But I can not make it work. Can you give me an exsample
or point me to some good documents?

It looks like that I need 4 IP's to configure the CIPE. Which 4 IP's
does the CIPE really need in my case?

I can telnet into the Linux box from Windows clients within company's
network.

Thanks a lot.

Check the telnetd, (x)inetd and packet filter configuration on the
Linux box. They should allow connections to the telnet service from
the VPN addresses also. Eg. check telnetd for the "-U", xinetd.conf
for "only_from" options. Read the respective man pages. Check log
files on Linux box whether there are suspicous entries.

You already connect to the corporate network via a VPN, so
normally it should not be necessary to deploy another VPN
directly to the Linux box in addition YMMV depending on the
security policies of your company.

Each end requires 2 addresses. One for the computer and one for the VPN.
The VPN should be outside the subnet used by the computer.
