I do not see any -x switch in 'man syslogd' of SuSE 8.0 (or 7.3). Are you
doing remote logging for nameless IPs? Not sure if it would help to
simply add names for them in /etc/hosts (I run local DNS with zones for my
LAN, and only remote logging is from my WAP with a hostname).
If there is such a switch to not lookup a remote host logging to you,
other daemons that appear in the logs may still attempt to resolve IPs
that connect to them (tcpwrappers, etc.).
