Is it true that if you live in a Telewest Eurobell area you can only have
Broadband up to 512K? (unless you get ADSL)
I'm moving into a new student house in Exeter in september and need to
organise broadband, but I'm worried 512K will be too slow, so I'm looking
for a 1Mbit service.. What are my best options?
TIA

Oops, I should have said, I'll be sharing the house with 5 other people, 3
of which are Computer Scientists... If we're all using the connection at
once, the connection would be almost as slow as dial-up...

Correct, and the upload is only 128K, but its a pretty solid service.
There's talk of a faster service on TW-Eurobell, but no dates as yet...

Bugger, in that case, looks like it'll have to be ADSL, can anyone recommend
a decent 1Mbit ADSL service?

It might not be a problem, when I was living in a student house(also in
Exeter) with 6 others sharing a 512k ADSL connection it was never a problem,
which surprised me. A lot of them were heavy P2P users and often left radio
stations streaming for hours on end, and yet websites and downloads would
usually download at reasonable rates.
