Hi,

I am sure this has been asked but I have only just joined this newsgroup.

I have just signed up to telewest and I am trying to download from a
newshosting server. The problem I have is that the speed is no faster than a
512 speed even though I now have 2MB, to be honest it is slower than my
previous tesco account.

Anyway, is there any setting I need to change or is this normal for telewest
(offer 2MB but give a lot less) or is it just because of the time of day (I
have only tried it between 7pm and 10pm).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Alex.

How many connections to the news hosting server are you making? If you are
only doing 1 connection, then you won't get the full download speed. You
will need to set up several connections from your newsreader in order to
achieve the maximum download speed.

For example, 1 connection to giganews give me 160KB/s but with 8
connections, i get the full 490KB/s (4mb)
