Ian
They'll all be suitable if they're for a cable modem connection as it's
only a plain Ethernet connection for the LAN and connection to the router.
The only question that should arise is what wireless 'features' your
colleague wants/needs and what his budget is.
I don't know of a comprehensive list of *all* available wireless routers.
If you go to the cm-forums website and click on the link on the top-right
of the page you'll get to Broadbandbuyer web site - they have a
comprehensive list of suitable routers. I must declare an interest though.
I'm an admin at the cm-forums site and Broadbandbuyer do provide
sponsorship to the site when you click on the link. I get no financial
incentives from it personally and you can always purchase products where
you choose.
If you look on the left of the Broadband Buyer website you'll see a list of
product for the different wireless speeds of 11Mb, 54Mb & SuperG - pick a
list and have a look at the specifications. Don't forget it is a router you
need and not a Wireless Access Point. The only caveat I would give is to
not use Belkin kit, it is good and reasonably priced but I've had several
users who've been unable to get them working with Telewest - that is only
my experience and some users do report a that their Belkin kit works fine.
