Hi
You should register the WAN MAC address of the router via selfcare and
issue an 'ipconfig /release' (no quotes) in a command prompt then
power-off the cable modem for a while (about 5 mins). When you've done
that unplug the PC and plug in the (powered-off) router, after the five
mins power-on the cable modem and let it get a firm connection then
power-on the router and let it go through the diagnostics and after that
plug in and power-on a PC - I suggest you use a wired PC for the connection
first while you setup the router. You really don't need any account or DNS
details in the router, you just set it up to act as a DHCP client. You may
have to wait up to 24 hrs for the MAC address to become active and the
above routine /may/ not work after the five minute power-off, if it doesn't
go through the same routine again and leave the cable modem off overnight -
that will always get it.
If you have any problems or questions visit the forums at
www.cm-forums.co.uk where this routine has been described many times.
