AIUI, blueyonder users can connect to the by text server and internal groups
from any ISP, as long as they authenticate.

Hi,

Yup, def. co-ax. And all sorted now. eBay, 9.90 + 5 carriage!

We had 6 people using it, with no drop in speed - there are very few BY
users near us, so there was no real drain on it.

Dave.

Well, I do have access at home through BT ADSL!

How long 'ex'? It's only in the last year or so.

You will only find the by groups on the by newservers.

news-text.blueyonder.co.uk - text only and best for by groups
news-blueyonder.co.uk - main server
news-lhr.cableinet.net - test binary server (it rocks but they're moving it
soon :-(
fe1.news.blueyonder.co.uk - hmmmm, read only I think...

Authentication from outside by is possible on a couple of them but I can't
remember which, sorry.

Several years. Not long after they withdrew the "free internet calls for
life cable-to-cable" for non-telewest ISPs, and their flat refusal to dig
out my original contract which I believe had it written on.

Between that, their failure to fix one of my two phone lines for ~6
months, and incorrect billing, i`d had enough - I was forced back to BT !
