The Register simply reported a Telewest press release issued today, so
yes they are up to date. This was a formal announcement of the 10 meg
service starting in September, with prices, not some trial or test.

Kindly, Telewest has reduced by monthly cost by £15, while more than
doubling the speed. And everyone gets speed increases for the same or
less money.

NTL's similar announcement does not mention a specific date, nor
prices.

You forget that they're genuinely merging this time... they'll now offer
both service; 10meg with a limit cheaply then pay for each extra gb over the
limit, or a more generous limit but lower speed perhaps... would offer a
decent range of options once they're merged.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!!!

I notice the uplink speed is still based around keyhole surgery principles.
10Mbit uplink, 384k downlink!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bring on LLU and we'll see 8Mbit and 24Mbit SDSL wipe these guys down.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Not until a deal is done will anything be genuine. NTL is still losing
money, Telewest is finally making a profit. Looks like NTL should be
be junior partner and Telewest's marketing and pricing supersede NTL.

Telewest does not have any limits on it's cable modem services, except
an acceptable use policy. So no, we don't want NTL's caps. And £35 a
month for 10 meg is already good value.
