tecra 8100 won't recognize netopia wireless card ?

I am at my wits end here .... I am fairly knowledgable about computers
... but due to my MS , my thought process is hit and miss sometimes
..... please help me get this working ...... this is my daughters
christmas present ..... scenario is , toshiba tecra 8100 laptop with a
netopia 3d reach wireless lan card 802.11b....with a netgear WGT324
wireless router on my desktop system... the laptop won't recognize the
card and I've been in the bios nothing there will help. I have tried
spot 0 and 1 with no results .
