Hello All,

Could someone explain to me exactly what a TCP wrapper is. I have heard
this used recently in several discussions and even in my class room
environment, however I don't understand the functionality or purpose.

Thanks,

HZS

First thing you need to do is change Mozilla's preferences to use text only.
Some people even set their news filters to kill posts using html so
they do not even see your post.

You might try
man tcpd
and
man -k wrapper | grep tcp
for some background reading.

It is flat and round, made out of corn. It is usually used to hold the
contents of a taco or burrito. Quite tasty I mite add. TCP stands for
Tasty Corn Pan fried. ;o)

[TCP Wrapper]

A kind of a program works like as firewall ... provides security to
*nix servers ... it checks all incoming packets as the sys admin
configures ... and provide access who are authorized to connect ...

tcpwrappers is a daemon created by Weitse Venema to restrict access to
various services that uses TCP/IP. It intercepts requests to particular
services then either allows or denies the connection based on the
configuration given. Available in many Unix variants everywhere.
