My ISP suggests that a 'default' Windows XP installation isn't optimised
for high speed broadband connections.

They suggest I get hold of a tcp stack optimiser, and use it.

Suggestions subsequently very welcome!

DrTCP.exe and set the RWIN value to 64240 then try bigger numbers.

See also http://www.speedguide.net/tcpoptimizer.php etc

link to a "cable" topic - but also applicable to any high speed internet
feed.

it only really needs the TCP settings in XP changing - but there are a
couple of utilities mentioned on the link that make it fairly simple.

networking issues in Windows ;-)

And WIndows is a good way to eliminate the penguin users .... if you wish to
download and install linux, your health is at risk from the fatal strain of
penguin insanity causing you not to answer a Windows related question (no
matter how easy) as it's far too difficult for you to comprehend - so you
have to resort to the standard penguin answer..... yes. you've already given
it!
