I have an M7NCG Biostar Mother Board that has an onboard
network card. I installed it myself and had no problems. I
decided to format and start fresh for reasons I can't
remember now. My nic card is installed with all the tcp/ip
and net bouie stuff except that now my tcp/ip is not
binding to the card. Normally you would see in the
properties TCP/IP>3com etc etc...but it is only showing
TCP/IP that is it.....I cannot for the life of me get
this to bind to the card and I think that is my problem.
Please please help!! Thank you.....

If you have only one adapter in Network Properties, it will only show TCP/IP
without any bindings since there can be only one binding.

Maybe if you described your problem we could help you find the cause.

I have never had a nic card that didn't show TCP/IP bound
to the nic card. The problem is with Road Runner, I have
to use their "activation cd" to connect to the cable
modem. The cd loads a program then tries to connect to the
internet to download the account setup. But, it says it
cannot complete it because it can't connect to the
internet. On this pc, there was no problem. Prior to this
week, I had these two pc's and another setup on a router
to connect to the internet when I had "charter internet".
Now I have Road Runner and can't connect with one of the
two pc's. I have tried connecting one at a time to the
modem. Only one works. As I said, I formatted the other pc
and reloaded everything. The only thing that is different
that I can tell is the tcp/ip properties. I cannot bind it
to the nic card. I have never ever ever had a nic card
that wasn't bound to tcp/ip properties. So, I don't know
how it can work any other way. help!!!

road runner allows you to connect several pc's at one
time. They just will not tell you how. But, regardless, I
try to hook up only that one pc, and run the rr software
and it won't connect to the net. Again, I have never seen
tcp/ip not bound to the card. That is what I want to know
how to do....How can I bind the tcp/ip properties to the
card???? HELP!!

I have RR also. I had a problem with the NIC card and it turned out that I
had lost the driver files for my card somehow. I reloaded those files and
low and behold..connection. My talks with RR is that there software does
not do anything to connect..only checks to see if you have the required
configuration on board. IN fact I have not loaded any of their software on
my computer..only the standard operating system but of course I am not
networked. Have you checked to see if your NIC card driver files are
installed ? Your reformatting may have eliminated those required driver
files.
