I have WinME using IE 6.0. I tried to install a MS PCMCIA NIC in my laptop
so I could connect to my hub for broadband access. I had to install the
software first, so all network settings on computer were set to use TCP/IP
for broadband networking instead of dial-up access. After trying to
install, I learned that my PCMCIA slot is not working properly. Since I
will not be able to repair it for a week, I un-installed all of the software
for the NIC. I tried to connect to the internet using my ISP dial-up
connection as before, but found that I could connect to the ISP, but could
not view any www pages. While connected, I was able to ping an IP address,
but not domain name (ie; 'google.com'). After working with my ISP's support
line, it was determined that the DNS server IP's were not in the TCP/IP
settings of the dial-up connection. After putting them in, I found that I
could connect to the ISP, ping an IP address and also ping a domain name,
but still not view the www page. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
I have deleted all TCP/IP protocols and Dial-up adapters and re-installed
them. I have deleted all dial-up connections and re-created them with no
luck.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
