Hi You Lovely Wondefully Helpful people.

Whenever I use TC to shape the traffic on my Suse 9.1 pro box, the ppp0
connection dies when it is dropped. To put it short, I have to reboot
to be able to reconnect.

I will try to track down the problem, but if anyone has any solution
off-hand it may save me a few hours/days of fumbling in the dark!

Problem: Whenever I have used tc to add anything on ppp0, ppp0 never
gets released (usage count decreased).

Tried cleaning up before ppp0 goes down - but how can you predict when
that is about to happen and clean up in time - and besides and anyway,
didnt work.

So bottom line is I am stuck with no traffic rules on the LAN. And soon
as downloads go up, so does pings.

Is the only way out to get another kernel?

>>Kernel 2.6.5-7.145-default / i686

What did you do to clean up ?

If you can get this to work when ppp0 is up, then you can call the
startup/shutdown shaping scripts from /etc/ppp/ip-up(.local) and
ip-down(.local) or whatever suse calles them.

Andy.
