Talktalk broadband speed & changing to wireless

I am getting very poor broadband speeds with TalkTalk. I haven't
adjusted any settings or connections on my computer, but the speed has
gradually declined over the last 6 months. I have checked for viruses
and trojans/spyware and all is fine.

The latest email they have sent me is:
The initial profile change on your line was set to 6Db Profile
(ISNR6), I have now changed it again to 12Db Profile (ISNR12). Our
systems show that your line is capable of handling 8mb speed.

So, is this the best? What profile should I be on or what is the
maximum?

I have a pretty old Sagem Fast 800E3 modem. I'm thinking of going
wireless now; what would be the best wireless to get for under £100,
and will this improve the connection speeds?

Thanks.

If you stopped reposting then people would get a chance to answer you!

The very fact that they have raised your profile from 6dB to 12dB is
indicative of a problem & I very much doubt if your line will be able
to carry a 8Mbps (in reality 7.6Mbps) connection with that 12dB
profile (not unless you are living just across the road to your
exchange)..

You have 2 options, you can check every thing you can, testing from
test socket on your NTE, change filters etc & if all is testing ok
then keep on at the Talk Talk help desk(seeing as they already have
started to tell you untruths) or you can believe the line they are
spinning you & carry on with what you call a declining service, but
please stop reposting the same
