I have a situation where my Mum has a live-in carer and the carer
wants Talktalk because that is what she had at home, and it gives her
internet and also free calls to "38 countries" including Lithuania
where she comes from - for about £23/month.

However I can't see the free calls package on the Talktalk website.

The www is full of people slagging off TT customer service etc...
though one could say that about most of the "phone+internet" ISPs like
Toucan (who truly are awful).

I would much appreciate any input.

I don't think the carer was using Skype.

Your very much correct it is the Customer Service that is their problem.
I can't wait until my 12 months is up, so as able to move without penalty.

I have just phoned them. First they denied they had any problems. Then
they admitted it, saying it was due to staff shortages early on ....

One is tied into an 18 month contract, which according to the man I
spoke to can be terminated early either by the subscriber's death or
by paying £70, which isn't too bad.

Or £70 not got money to throw away, I'm a Yorkshire man you know, we known
to be careful with money.

And also not quite up to writing something in English that others might
easily understand?

http://broadband.talktalk.co.uk/prod...and/essentials

They used to throw in the international calls but looks like you now have to
pay £2 for a "boost".

Yup - I just posted a link to a survey of 12,000 users which shows that TT's
customer service and tech support are fairly average.

http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/cus...-full-results/

It's up to you whether to believe that or comments from people many of whom
have probably never even used TT.
