Talking about torrents...

No matter what torrent I select, even well seeded ones like SUSE, I can't
seem to manage to get a decent d/load speed. Certainly this wasn't always
the case and I have obtained 300kB/s before. Now it's only 22kB/s.
Does anyone have, or know of, a torrent test that is known to provide a good
speed?
Ta.

Have you done the appropriate port forwarding?

John.

Yes. There is no change to the router setup.

Is it time of day sensitive, does it pick up speed in
The Wee Small Hours?
My experience is that ISP's tend to traffic shape P2P
If they traffic shape role player on-line gameing, streaming
video, voice over IP, people notice, then complain, or ask for
a MAC code, so ISP's go for a soft target like P2P.
The mindset of many ISP's is that P2P users are all
downloading pirated stuff.

The problem, is there one that tests using a specific port?

Nope. It's slow all of the time.

Does anyone know if they traffic shape?
A lot of people have been saying that their centrals are overloaded at
the moment, what do you get from http://www.speedtest.net/ ?

I have just asked them that specific question. Not hopeful about a specific
reply though.

5203 down, 282 up. Which seems to be quite normal for everything except P2P.

Yes, that's not too bad.
I'd suspect traffic shaping of torrents. In utorrent you can see the
speed of other peers in the swarm, I'm not sure about other torrent
clients - it might be worth looking at.

I find torrents generally quite quick - although it's all dependent on
how well seeded they are, along with how many people are grabbing the
file and then disconnecting straight away, as this will slow the average
speed of the swarm down.
