Default Lock TIme out

Hello, (sorry for my english)

I've been working with a Server NT4 and Win2k clients. I'm using Some
Paradox tables located on the server and accessed by the clients.

Now, Ive upgraded the solution to a HP Proliant Win2k3 Server with XP
clients. When using my database software, I get offten hte following error
\\Server\TableName :Lock TIme out. The error happend when the table stay
open and unused for a while (lunch pause for example). The error is related
to the XP client. Ex: when Client1 get this error, client2 can works fine.

I only get this error if I use XP client AND XP server. When this error
occurs, all of the open ressources get lost. I have to close application and
lauch them again.

Any ideas

David

Hi David,
First make sure you XP clients have the following Patch installed.

329170 MS02-070: Flaw in SMB Signing May Permit Group Policy to Be Modified
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329170

If you have kept up with the Critical Updates it is most likely installed
but not having this installed on XP will cause the issue, as Windows 2003
shipped with patch on it already. To check on the XP system look in add
remove prgrams and see if 329170 is listed as installed. If not I would
suggest hitting the Windows Update site and downloading and installing all
the Critical Updates at the very least.

Please let me know if this is already installed. If it is I'll send give
you some additional Troubleshooting steps.
First and foremost I would disable the Idle TimeOut on the server. Really
easy to do, from command prompt

net config server autodisconnect:-1

Hope this Helps!

Hello Alan,

Thanks for this tips. Unfortunatly, I've already had this problem last year
on an other system and I thought first of this patch. This means it is
already installed and the problem is still going on.

If you have any other suggestion ?

Thank you

David
