Linksys SX-41 and RRAS

Has anybody set up a RRAS server using Win 2003 Server
behind a Linksys SX-41 router (or any other router etc D-
Link)?

When a client tries to connect to the server using PPTP
they will get an error 721. It seems like they are
connecting but when it gets to verifying username and
password it hangs.

I have the router set to PPTP pass through and port 1723
forwarding to the server. I have tried using DMZ, still
does not work. I hook the server direct to the dsl modem
works fine.

if you have all ports for VPN and even tried DMZ, it could be the VPN server
configuration. also check the log for the details.

When you talk about logs are talking about event viewer?
The VPN Server works fine when connected direct to the
dsl modem.

Error 721 in a case like this usually indicates that the router is
blocking GRE. GRE is IP protocol (not a port!) 47.

In a PPTP connection, the actual data is encrypted then encapsulated
with a GRE header. If anything in the path (such as a router or firewall)
blocks GRE, no data can be transferred and the connection fails.

If the Linksys doesn't mention GRE by name or by protocol number, look
for things like PPTP pass-through mode or even VPN pass-through mode.

I all ready have pptp pass thru enabled. I think it is a
problem with the firmware of the linksys router. I heard
some where that Microsoft change some of the code for GRE
in Win 2003 server. The router works fine with Win2k
server.
