Hi there,
I'm using the Proliant Server as my Proxy and DHCP server, platform W2k3 Server. I'm trying to use 2 gigabit nic on that server. One is for lan and the other for internet. When I put gateway on both nics there's a warning that says: Warning - Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network (such as intranet or the Internet). They will not function properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint network (such as one on your intranet and one on the Internet). Do you want to save this configuration? When I click ok and save the configuration. Both my Internet and LAN is not working. How do I overcome this. When I'm using the W2k Server, everything is ok. Can anyone help me on this? Have you installed remote access and routing? I had the same problem, ignore
the warning about the cards. Use the Configure Server/Set up server applet in the control panel/admin section to add remote access, follow the prompts and use the default settings just make sure you select the public access card as the one going to your internet connection. I have 2 nics in my w2k3 box, 1 is a d-link wireless card which hooks to my wireless hub/router in the office and the other is connected to a wired hub to service a room of 5 machines, again all wired to the hub -> w2k3 srv -> wireless -> router. You might need to subnet the 2nd nic...my wireless nic is on 192.168.0.x, and the 2nd nic which services the wired hub is on 192.168.10.x. Someone also suggested to me to bridge the cards but never did it as the above worked ok. - J. You say the server will be set up as a Proxy too.
Will you be using NAT, or a third party Proxy Server? Remove the default gateway from the LAN NIC. If you have multiple subnets on
your LAN configuure RRAS and static routes for your LAN. -- Thanks, Marc Reynolds Microsoft Technical Support This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. The Proxy Server will act also as a firewall using the ISA
2000. The LAN NIC will be connected to a common VLAN which in turn will connnect to another 5 VLANs. Yes, will be using NAT. The configuration of ISA 2000 is giving me headache.
