win2k3 server that i installed will not connect to the internet. we tried to ping the default gateway and the request timed out. however, we were able to successfully ping the ip address. we plugged in a laptop running windows XP to the same connection, changed the ip address, subnet mask, default gateway, & primary/alternate dns info to match what the server had and was able to connect without any problems. any suggestions? |

Go to command prompt "Dos prompt" type "ipconfig/release" hit enter. type "ipconfig/renew" hit enter type "ipconfig/all" hit enter. This should renew your ip address settings as long as it is connected to the router. Be careful with router ip address and DSL address issues if you have a DSL line. Also be aware of the built in firewall and DHCP issues with Server 2003. Good luck.
