My WIN98SE Toshiba TECRA 8000 LAPTOP has a PCMCIA XIRCOM Cardbus
Ethernet 10/100 CBE2-100 NIC. I am unable to make this Adpater work in a Peer-to-Peer network with a desktop running XP PRO. I set the IP address as 192.168.2.6 for ADAPTER TCPIP [255.255.255.0]. IPCONFIG /ALL and WINIPCFG both report IP address as 192.168.2.6. XIRCOM RealView software show IP=192.168.0.100 XIRCOM CBEDIAG.EXE shows IP=192.168.0.100. The MAC address shown is always the same. My attempts to change the IP=192.168.0.100 to 192.168.2.6 all failed using WINIPCFG "RELEASE ALL" and "RENEW ALL" then resetting the TCPIP IP address in Properties AND REBOOTING. The NIC passes SELF TESTS. This NIC in this Laptop worked for years in a Peer-to-Peer with a 133 mHz Desktop. What can be done to make the various softwares report the same IP address for the same NIC? Thank you for any help. Dave_s Dave_s |
