awesome! thanks
how can i tell if there is a performance or latency difference? i know that he thinks that there is; of course.. he also thinks that having 3 switches is better than 2; and that me leaving machines on; on a switch that isn't on his critical path slows down his network speed i mean.. for real how can i detect these things? measure latency to the microsecond or something like that? can i just call GeekSquad? |

Put ping can give you some information. -- The e-mail address in our reply-to line is reversed in an attempt to minimize spam. Our true address is of the form che...@prodigy.net. |

Just try some broadband speed measurements and average them out. http://performance.toast.net/ I don't think there will be any significant difference, a cable is a cable, it's the same wires whether it's straight-thru or cross-over.
