Default Simulating loopback on a dsl modem?

I host a 3d world in what is called active worlds. I can have bots enter
my world if I start the bot from another computer outside of my local
network. But if I try and start a bot from within my local network, the bot
can't enter my world.
I've been told this is because my dsl modem does not support loopback.
In looking around the active worlds forums, I saw one poster say if you
install another ethernet card,
have both cards connected to the router and set the ip address of the new
card to the wan address of the router, this should do the same as what a dsl
modem with loopback capability would.
Has anyone else heard of this workaround, or know if it would work?

Thanks!

You do realize that all computers have a built-in default loopback IP
address, which is 127.0.0.1. Why not just point your bots towards that
address?
