Default ADSL2+ versus ADSL

Hi

My ADSL Max is currently getting 4672 @ 11db margin - upstream 448 @ 20dB.
It typically varies from about 4000-5200 winter-summer. Line length is
about 3km.

Can anyone give me an idea of what kind of speed I might get with ADSL2+
which becomes available in August?

I have attached the payload stats to give an indication of line quality.

Many thanks
Peter

Before I moved to ADSL2+ I was on ADSL max, my stats were 29 att and 9 snr
downstream. I used to connect at 8128kbps. After moving to ADSL2+ I sync at
17-19mbit fastpath.

The graphs shown (or pinted at) a few posts ago show that teh advantage
with ADSL2 evaporates the further you are from the exchenge. In my case
it looks like I might go from e.g. 4->5Mbps rates

Hardly worth bothering with. Unles teh upload speed went up. I;d like an
800K upload fer sure.

So on lines with 55+dB attentuation, ADSL2+ does not offer any improvement!

I hope that it is wrong! See
http://www.internode.on.net/resident...ernet/extreme/

for an alternative viewpoint.

I hope that it is wrong! See

According to both graphs at 50dB I should be getting up to 3.5Mb/s, but in
fact even with the 2WIRE router (which proved to be best) I struggle to get
2.3Mb/s.

Worse still ADSL2+ isn't going to make much, if any difference !

Martin

I've just been switched from a standard ADSL connection, with the following
parameters:-

Sync 1152k d/s; 288k u/s; SNR 13dB Atten 63dB

To an ADSL2 connection:-

Sync 2746k d/s; 509k u/s; SNR 12dB Atten 58dB

(Interesting that the line attenuation has improved, (mind you as a by product
of this change, my voice circuit has now been dead for 4 days !)

The first chart is Be/O2 specific I think so that might be to do with
the infrastructure and equipment they use, the Internode chart maybe
measures against different suppliers. FWIW the Be chart was pretty
much sppot on for my connection with them
