Hi
My ADSL Max is currently getting 4672 @ 11db margin - upstream 448 @ 20dB. It typically varies from about 4000-5200 winter-summer. Line length is about 3km. Can anyone give me an idea of what kind of speed I might get with ADSL2+ which becomes available in August? I have attached the payload stats to give an indication of line quality. Many thanks Peter zyxel> wa ad ch DSL standard: ADSL_G.dmt near-end interleaved channel bit rate: 0 kbps near-end fast channel bit rate: 4672 kbps far-end interleaved channel bit rate: 0 kbps far-end fast channel bit rate: 448 kbps zyxel> wa ad li n noise margin downstream: 11 db output power upstream: 11 db attenuation downstream: 41 db carrier load: number of bits per symbol(tone) tone 0- 31: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 32- 63: 00 00 00 23 45 56 67 78 89 99 99 9a 99 99 99 9a tone 64- 95: 09 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 98 89 99 88 98 tone 96-127: 99 98 98 88 88 88 88 88 88 78 88 88 77 77 78 77 tone 128-159: 76 77 78 88 88 77 88 88 88 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 tone 160-191: 76 77 70 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 06 65 05 56 tone 192-223: 67 07 77 70 00 05 50 50 00 00 00 50 56 50 55 54 tone 224-255: 00 00 00 00 00 04 44 00 04 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 256-287: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 288-319: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 320-351: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 352-383: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 384-415: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 416-447: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 448-479: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 480-511: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 zyxel> wa ad li f noise margin upstream: 20 db output power downstream: 18 db attenuation upstream: 24 db carrier load: number of bits per symbol(tone) tone 0- 31: 00 00 00 02 34 56 67 77 77 87 87 77 76 65 43 00 tone 32- 63: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 64- 95: 90 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 96-127: 00 00 00 86 75 67 76 76 85 77 76 86 86 87 76 75 tone 128-159: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 160-191: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 192-223: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 224-255: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 256-287: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 288-319: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 320-351: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 352-383: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 384-415: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 416-447: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 448-479: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 tone 480-511: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 PeterW |

In my case it looks like I might go from e.g. 4->5Mbps rates Hardly worth bothering with. Unles teh upload speed went up. I;d like an 800K upload fer sure. |

So on lines with 55+dB attentuation, ADSL2+ does not offer any improvement! I hope that it is wrong! I hope that it is wrong! See http://www.internode.on.net/resident...ernet/extreme/ According to both graphs at 50dB I should be getting up to 3.5Mb/s, but in fact even with the 2WIRE router (which proved to be best) I struggle to get 2.3Mb/s. Worse still ADSL2+ isn't going to make much, if any difference ! Regards, Martin |
