Default Extended Range w/ a USB card?

Trying to connect to an out of range WAP.

Any suggestion on an extended range wireless USB card that takes an external
antenna.

Also wondering if it would be better to get a high-power range-extender that
allows an external antenna

Any thoughts appreciated

Mark

How much boost do you need? Hawking makes a good USB adapter with a
high-gain dish antenna.

John - Thanks for the Hawking recommend

I'd like to carry my LapT with me when I visit a neighbor a few houses away.
Not sure of distance but it's more then ~7X the distance I get now w/ a no
antenna pci card in the LT. Almost sure I'll need an extended range
apdapter w/ external antenna.

But other idea is a range-extender with a directional antenna. Might work
to point antenna before leaving house an use LT as it.

Unless you have clear line of sight, that probably won't work, even with
a better antenna.
