Default Network printer can't be seen by clients

The server and the clients are connected to a printserver. The server
can print with no problem. When I go to install then printer on the
clients, the clients can't see the shared printer. The clients can
ping the printer though and all computers can ping and see each other.
I made sure the shared name is entered correctly.

I am running 2k3. Would appreciate help.

I'm not sure what you mean by printserver - I imagine you mean an internal
or external device on the printer which has an IP address assigned to it.

So - to clarify, here's what I am assuming you've got.....

Your server is set up with a standard TCP/IP port for this printer - the
printer is configured on the server as a local printer, and is shared.

If so, try having your clients go to \\servername and see if they can see
all the shares, including the the shared printer.

If so, have them right-click on the printer and choose Connect.

If they can't see the shared printer by name, your sharename may be too long
or have illegal characters in it. Try another shorter one

If they can't even see \\servername you've got larger neworking problems.

Please post back with more details....

Great. You still should have been able to use the Add Printer wizard, but I
personally find that cumbersome w/no real advantage.
